Introduction

History and introduction of the institute
To keep pace with international technology trends as well as draw on the foundation of an advanced semiconductor research environment established by the industry, academic, and research sectors in Taiwan over the past three decades, the CIC and NDL officially consolidated to form the TSRI in January 2019 with the hope of creating an integrated semiconductor research environment in which world-class academic research and innovative technological development can be conducted to sustain the competitiveness of the semiconductor industry in Taiwan.

The TSRI capitalizes on the strengths of the CIC and NDL in chip design and semiconductor fabrication to continually refine the research and services provided by the industry, academic, and research sectors. In so doing, it aims to provide a comprehensive range of verification services for semiconductor devices, circuits, and system integration and create an open information and service platform for semiconductor manufacturing, packaging and testing, integrated circuit design, intellectual property core, and system integration. With this platform, industry, academic, and research teams could share these resources to reduce the amount of time required for technological development and verification, avoid resource wastage, become the engine catalyzing the semiconductor research of industry, academic, and research communities, and cultivate an integrated pool of high-caliber professionals.
